Working from home as a freelancer provides great benefits such as managing the whole household without having to leave home, spending quality time with your family, avoiding heavy traffic, paying bills and doing transactions online, homeschooling your kids, and pursuing your passions in life.
With the intense competition in today’s digital world, online freelancers must take steps on how to be on top of the game, keep the ball rolling and maximize their potentials.
Being a freelance virtual assistant for quite a short time helped me acquire technical skills that enabled me to be more efficient in my job. Let me give you some tips on how to rock your online jobs as a virtual assistant!

1. Upgrade Your Skills
Be it a technical or cognitive skill, don’t settle for anything less. Enrolling yourself in online courses will help you get the training needed to become a rock star virtual assistant. Or if you are just starting out as a freelancer, possessing basic skills is not enough. You must aim for self-improvement and always be ready to put your time and effort in doing so. And that is what I did. Even though I have been freelancing for more than 5 years, I lacked confidence in applying for jobs because I felt incompetent. So I enrolled myself in FVA Consultancy’s Freelancing Course to keep my skills updated. It was like a refresher course for me. I have gained valuable skills that would help me do my job well as a virtual assistant. Remember, success is not obtained overnight. You have to work for it.

2. Learn Project Management
Have you ever experienced forgetting to do tasks that were really easy?
Working as a virtual assistant can be stressful if you are not able to meet your deadlines. I am sharing this tip to help you achieve and manage your tasks well.
Learning Project Management will help you prioritize more important things on your to-do list. By using available online tools, you will be able to get yourself on the right track when it comes to handling multiple tasks and coordinating with your clients. As for me, Trello is on top of my list when it comes to managing my tasks and projects as a virtual assistant. Don’t forget to add Google calendar to help you meet your deadlines. Doing these tips will help you save time and effort in working as an online freelancer.

3. Make Self-care A PriorityThe last but not the least on how to be a rock star virtual assistant is for you and me to always take care of ourselves--physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
I am greatly blessed because my family and I were privileged to be destined in a place where the jewel-blue sea is just a 5-minute ride away. We can go to the beach anytime we want without spending much. Go for a walk outside or do some shopping. Visit the salon or get some massage. Dine in at your favorite restaurant or just eat whatever you want. Working online can be sometimes stressful but there are a lot of ways that you can do to help relieve your stress.
I thank God for His goodness and provision through my online job as a virtual assistant. I hope these tips can be of help as you start your very own freelancing journey. Thank you for reading and to God be all the Glory!
